Camping options and services begin to get sparse for the next 300 miles. I stopped riding at noon and setup at the free RV campground in McCook because the next camping option is an additional 65 miles and I did not know if I would be able to manage that millage with the strong crosswind and headwind today. Unexpectedly, the bathrooms at the campground are “closed for winter” and I had to travel a mile to the gas station for bathroom access. Thankfully, the water spigot is functional.
Someone at the campground has a dog chained up outside that keeps barking at everyone and looks underfed. Another RV parked next to it with another dog and now the first dog keeps barking at the new arrival.
