I woke up to rain and decided to wait for a gap to get ready for the day. I made it about 20 miles before rain started again. Some folks renting a private campground with a pavilion let me get out of the rain for a bit while I figured out what the weather was going to do.
I ended up continuing in the rain to Kootenai Falls. There was a chance of downpours in the afternoon and I didn’t want to be on the highway during that. I hiked to the suspension bridge across the waterfall. I then spent the rest of the afternoon sitting under a surprisingly dry tree.
Once the rain let up, I rode into Libby to camp at Volunteer Firefighter Park Campground. It is the dirtiest campground I have been to. All of the sites have garbage all over, there is no soap in the bathroom (I carry my own, but when I’m paying for a campsite I expect them to take care of the campground), and it generally has a bad vibe. I’ll be happy to get back on the road tomorrow.
