I spent the morning talking with Blue & Larry at the Bike Walk camp and got a late start. The millage today was not that much, but the wind was brutal. There were 2 moderate passes. For the first one, I had to take several breaks because the wind was blowing me off the road. By the second pass, it started to rain which reduced the wind. By the top, rain had subsided to calm weather.
After some calm riding, a storm developed in the distance. I could see lightning, but couldn’t hear thunder. Since I was in Giant Hole Valley surrounded by mountains and the lightning was far enough away, I decided the best coarse of action was to continue riding as fast as possible to shelter. I got to Wisdom just as the storm was arriving and went in the only open business, a bar. I ordered a pizza and waited out the storm before heading to Legion Memorial Park where I slept on a picnic table in the screened shelter.
