Day 46: Missoula, MT

Today was a bit of a rest day biking-wise, but still a very fill day. I got to Missoula before noon and stopped at Walmart to restock consumables. While I was sitting near the bike rack eating lunch a stranger asked if they could pick dandelion fluff out of my hair (there was so much blowing around I was struggling to keep it out of my food).

Next, I went over to a bike shop and replaced my chain and tightened the lockring on my cassette which I had noticed starting to come loose yesterday.

Then I stopped in Adventure Cycling Association’s office where I ran into a cyclist I had seen before in Carbondale when I was getting my fork replaced. I also met another cyclist who gave me some tips on good sections of path and road.

Missoula has some of the really good bike crossings where a camera identifies that a cyclist is waiting instead of requiring going off course to push a button.

I ended the day at a Warm Showers hosted by a couple and their dog. They have a little “Coop” next to their house with a bed, table, & water for guests. They also helped me with some route planning and camping suggestions.
