My mom met me at her land in the morning to continue working on removing brush. Around noon we parted ways. I had to walk about 3 miles on sand roads before I hit pavement.
It wasn’t very far to get to Aiken, but it was a bit stressful at times because people in South Carolina are not very good about passing bikes. I am hoping that drivers improve in Georgia or that shoulders are more common.
I stayed with Warm Showers hosts Ellen & Jeff. They generously replaced my chain which was starting to feel rather worn out and we went to hear a musician at Good Girl Brewery nearby. We also exchanged tips about touring and Jeff suggested a better route out of Aiken in the morning.
