Day 82: Browning, MT

When I woke up it was cold & there were snow flurries. As a result, I got a late start. When I got to the sign for Chief Mountain border crossing, it was unclear if the port was open, so I decided to continue toward a different port.

The Canadian customs agent didn’t think the portion of the route through Canada would be very bike friendly and noted that a good 20 mile stretch was gravel. I ended up deciding to take a minor highway through Montana instead and had to go back through the US border. It was cold and windy all day.

Once I got to Browning, there were many packs of dogs. I was chased many times and had to get off my bike frequently. I was excited to go to a real grocery store because I was pretty much out of food. A group of kids were selling jewelry they made outside of the grocery store and I bought a bracelet from them. I camped at the Sleeping Wolf Blackfeet Tribal Campground. Many dogs could be heard barking into the night.
